Bass Valley Primary School is a rural school situated between the Bass Highway and the small Coastal town of Corinella, on the land of the Bunurong/Boonwurrung people. It is surrounded by the small coastal townships of Corinella, Grantville, Bass and Coronet Bay.

We acknowledge the traditional owners of this land, the Bunurong / Boonwurrung people, and pay our collective respects to their elders past, present and emerging. We also pay our continued respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in our community today.

Most of the schools 240 students travel to school by bus. The bus network covers surrounding townships and rural settlements of Bass, Corinella, Coronet Bay, Pioneer Bay, Grantville, The Gurdies, Kernot, Almurta and Woodleigh. To qualify for bus travel students must reside outside of a 5 km radius to the school.

The school was created with the consolidation of seven rural primary schools; Bass, Corinella, Grantville, Kernot, Kilcunda, Woodleigh and Woolamai, and was officially opened on 5th February, 1979. The school was rebuilt in 2000 with excellent, well-designed facilities that support an acitve learning environment. The redevelopment was the achievement of 10 years of planning and a capital works project costing almost $2 million dollars. At the start of 2001 the rebuild was complete and the school is very proud of its modern and spacious facilities.

A strong history of community involvement has made Bass Valley Primary the proud school it is today. The school has been lucky to have had many past and present families prepared to be committed to the schools development.
