Bass Valley Primary has been participating in the Cows Create Careers program since 2014. Each year, 2 calves spend 3 weeks at our school, being cared for by teams of students from grade 5 and 6. Students hand feed the calves twice a day and monitor their growth and overall health. They also learn about the dairy industry and meet locals involved in the dairy industry to find out about different career pathways available.
As part of the program, students work in teams to create a project, either a video, powerpoint or 3D model, that shows their understanding of a chosen area of the dairy industry. One team of students was awarded a prize for their efforts in 2014.
