The Bike Education Program at Bass Valley Primary School is designed for students in grade 3-6. The aims of the Bike Ed program are to enable students to:

  • Gain knowledge and understanding of the road traffic environment and basic road laws
  • Develop the physical and cognitive skills to manage the traffic environment safely as a cyclist
  • Develop responsible behaviours, attitudes and decision making skills for the safe use of bicycles through participation in enjoyable learning experiences relevant to their ages and abilities.

The ultimate goal of the Bike Ed program is for students to gain competent control of their bike while riding safely and independently.

The grade 5/6 students also participate in a road ride to complete the program.
